The Simple Things

I often get so wrapped up in my own ambitious world, that I forget to notice life.  Maybe everyone is guilty of this to some degree, but I am a huge offender.  My favorite sayings to remind me of this oft forgotten lesson learned are: "Life is a journey, not a destination" - Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Enjoy the journey" - Gordon B. Hinckley and  "Life is not about surviving the storm, it's about learning to dance in the rain" (can't figure out who said that one).  Anyway, today the kids watched Curious George.  It was an episode about donuts so of course they had donuts on the brain after that (note to self: no more TV).  I told them after I got the laundry done, we could buy some donuts.  We swung by Sonic for happy hour first - a couple slushes for the kids and a scrumptious Diet Coke with limes and cranberry for me- brilliant!  Then we headed over to Krispy Kreme.  I decided to hit drive thrus so I wouldn't have to haul three kids in and out of a bunch of stores.  I ordered a dozen assorted donuts and pulled up to the window. Guess what - the girl said they were on her.  Score!  My splurge today wasn't such a splurge after all.  Then as we headed home I noticed a girl on the corner of the street listening to her ipod and jammin' out.  I can't help but smile when I see stuff like that.  I LOVE getting into music so I can so relate.  Anyway, here's to happy moments and enjoying the simple things in life!  :)
