Thanksgiving - Part 3
We had a Thanksgiving celebration the Monday after Thanksgiving with Marcos' family at Amy & Esteban's house. Marcos' aunt, uncle and two of his cousins were there also, which was really fun. I ended up having to go late because the YW presidency was taking dinner into the YW counselor who just had a baby. It was a busy week to say the least! So I didn't get to take the pictures I would have liked to take, but I did manage to take a couple of the kids as they opened a gift from abuela. Now, I have to say that we are big on our kids appreciating things and showing they are grateful, but this is too funny not to talk about. Abuela gave the girls all matching dresses and the boys all matching sweaters so we can get their pictures taken together. But to a 5-year-old, a sweater is a sweater and not exactly what you were hoping to received from the "surprise present" that emerged from Abuela's secret stash. You can see the difference in a 5-year-old's reaction and a 2-year-old's reaction to a sweater as a present in the pictures of my two boys. CLASSIC!

That's great! We too have reached this - my mom always gives clothes and last year my nephew opened his first and said to Ethan, "it's just clothes." I love the look on Dylan's face and I love the look on Preston's.
Looks like you had quite a bit of turkey!! But they all looked like fun with cousins. Great pic of grandma Betty...aka aunt Betty... glad she got to see you all, that makes her day, week, month. She always tells me about your visits. I saw your mom at the boys and girls club and WOW how I wish she was my cousin!!! She is a wonderful lady and I love her lots.
Laura- I will pass the compliments on to Alicia.
Jen- I remember my nephew doing the whole "it's just clothes" bit. My mom has decided to give clothes and shoes when she buys them randomly throughout the year and scrap them during the holidays so she can just do a couple fun Christmas things and keep the level of excitement up a bit.
Lisa- I know visits make grandma's day. I have tried to make it at least a monthly thing, although I know I should go more often. I just have to get it scheduled better. My kids love visiting too and I know those memories are going to be priceless to them one day. Preston can't stop talking about the cookoo clock and Dylan loves going to lunch, playing with her toys, visiting Roxy (Shirley's dog) in the backyard and getting a dollar from GG. Cute! My mom told me she ran into you too. Small world! She really is the best! We lucked out for sure! I'm thinking we'd be pretty lost without all the guidance she's given us throughout the years. Thank goodness for great mothers. They make all the difference! :)
Man, you guys really know how to celebrate!! I love, love their expressions on opening sweaters!! My mom sent Dallin some clothes for Christmas (which he hasn't opened yet), but I did tell her that clothes aren't exactly exciting for a 6 year old. I love Dylan's name - White Thunder - what a cute kid to make up Indian names for everyone. Hope your holidays are wonderful!!
