My To Do List

What I'd like to do is blog about all the fun (and not so fun) things we've been doing. But there is no time. Instead, I'm going to write my "to do" list for all to see why I've been missing in the blogosphere lately.
  • Get kids up, dressed and fed
  • Drop Dylan off at music camp (that I found out about on Sunday and got him signed up for last night at 10 p.m. Nothing like last minute decisions, but I think he will really enjoy it)
  • Tackle the mound of laundry that has been accumulating
  • Do dishes and clean up the kitchen
  • Bathrooms (nope, those are going to have to wait. Kitchen and laundry trump bathrooms today)
  • Pick up Dylan from music camp
  • Figure out what to feed the kids for lunch and maybe think about dinner before 5:00 today. Easy and somewhat healthy would be nice.
  • Make sure Marissa gets at least one good nap today since she had two less-than-ideal car naps yesterday in my running around, going to my mom's house, dropping kids at my friend's house and taking Preston to his Occupational Therapy appointment
  • Write a skit for girls' camp (since I haven't blogged about this yet, I best mention it now. Our YW Presidency was reorganized a couple months ago. I was released and during all my ups and downs with depression, struggled a great deal letting go of something I cared about so much. I finally felt like I had come to terms with being released and figured the Lord knew much better than I did what I was capable of handling at this time in my life and I obviously have many family responsibilities at the moment. No sooner do I wrap my brain around this, than they call me a week and a half ago to be the camp director (camp is June 20). So yeah, totally last minute and I'm barely getting my bearings. YIKES!
  • Find a tent or two (that is big, good and in our budget to purchase)
  • Make shopping lists, packing lists, activity lists, meet with parents who weren't at the parent meeting (and there are a lot of them) and everything else that goes along with camp this year. Can you tell I'm stressing about being so far behind?
  • Continue reading up on Preston
  • Work on Preston's self-care skills (dressing, brushing teeth)
  • Set up sensory activities for Preston (and Dylan) to do. This is fun, but messy, which doesn't help with my housework to do list. Oh well. Today will be burying small toy cars in a little tote full of sugar. That and plenty of time on the tramp and then rolling in blankets. I know, sounds weird, but it's part of our routine now.
  • Make sure Dylan gets his reading done (reads to me and gets read to by me...hopefully I can do that before bed today. Not sure if I can fit it in during the day today)
  • Get back into a better routine of violin practicing with Dylan. For now, I just need to remind him to practice. At some point, I need to be better at setting up an actual lesson time so that doesn't get overlooked so often.
  • Spelling, math and language arts once a week to keep up a basic level of skills during our more relaxed summer school
  • Pay bills. Yes, that one cannot be put off. I need to sort through that stupid paper pile and get caught up with that mess. Blah!
  • Paint the basement bedroom now that the sheetrock is up, mudded and sanded (again, probably going to have to wait until another day, but it's still weighing on my mind)
  • Weed the front and back yard and maybe attempt to get a garden planted this year (between being super busy and the crazy weather, a garden may just not happen this summer...that would be tragic since I LOVE my garden. We'll have to see)
  • Devotional with the kids. With Dylan's music camp today, we didn't get our normal devotional in so I need to do devotional before they go down for quiet time and try to get some scripture reading in myself during that moment of "down" time I have today
  • Speaking of all things spiritual, I would really like to get to the temple at some point. I'm way overdue for a temple trip and could really use the time to ponder. All the newness of everything is getting to me: Preston's diagnosis, multiple decisions we need to make (like do we move or not) and just stress in general (Marcos starts a new job in three weeks...YIKES!)
So if you don't hear from me for a few weeks, now you know why. I'll try to catch you up with all our amazing adventures when I have a moment to breathe.

life with young kids is so busy. I am just like you, always making to do lists. I have decided though, that sometimes you just have to let some things go. I clean my floors and 20 min. later there's toys and crumbs all over them again....ugh! Good luck and don't forget you're amazing and need time for yourself.

You are one busy girlie! I sure hope that you can find some balance and get all that you need to done. Sounds like you have a busy summer! Hope everything works out like you have planned!

Lisa- Marcos is going to be working as a social worker for McKay Dee Hospital. Same company so same pay and his PTO transfers and everything, but a new experience, no travel time and more steady hours. He's excited for the change, although he has really enjoyed working for Intermountain Home Care and Hospice.

Melanie- I know what you mean. I've definitely had to loosen up in my old age (and as a mother) but some moments are just challenging no matter what. I'm in one of those survival mode moments and hoping it doesn't last forever.

Jaimie- Yes...super busy. But I would love to try to get the kids together while you are in town. Life slows down a bit after camp, which is June 20-24. So any time after that, I probably have a bit more cushion in my schedule and could use some chill time to just let the kids play. The zoo has zoorassic park with dinosaurs right now, the acquarium is awesome, we love treehouse museum, or anywhere with water is always a hit with my kids. Or you could come hang out and let the kids play here. Our backyard is a fairly good kid entertainer. My cell phone is 801-458-9717. Just call or text me and we can coordinate schedules.
