Salamanders and Guinea Pigs

I went to my Aunt Carol's house Tuesday morning to borrow a Halloween costume and dig up some peonies that were once my great grandma's. Dylan LOVES to go to Mary Jane and Jonah's house. They have guinea pigs, hamsters and a chinchilla. It's like a mini petting zoo to him. Anyway, I ended up finding a costume that should be perfect for Dylan, digging up a big peony plant, and leaving with a start of one of her rose bushes.  All in all, a very good day!  While we were out digging, Jonah and Dylan found a salamander and carried it around telling us about it. Dylan was convinced it was a lizard at first. Crazy little animal-lover kid of mine. Preston was very content tossing dirt back into the hole Carol had just dug.  I'm sure he thought he was being very helpful.  For the most part, he wandered around speaking gibberish and smiling. He did manage to find a can of soda to drink/spill all over himself. Honestly!  It was a fun couple of  hours at the "Flowenderson" home.  Thanks Carol!

Nate would be so jealous. We are pet free for the first time in about10-11 years. It is kind of freaking us out, but we can make it through until we are in our own house again, at lease we hope so.

I think Dylan and Nate are kindred spirits :)

I can't believe you found a salamander. That is so cool. I am not sure I have actually seen a live salamander. How fun for those kids!
